Address17 St Augustine's Road, Camden, London, NW1 ClientLondon Borough of Camden ContractorLengard Limited Contract Value£340,000 DescriptionExisting dwellings are increasingly recognised as one of the key barriers to major reductions in Co2 emissions. This project created a rare example of a solid wall Victorian house that has been sympathetically refurbished with the aim of reducing the emissions by 80%. The challenge was to show how Victorian and other period housing can be bequeathed to future generations so that they benefit from their heritage values without being burdened with the millstone of high emissions in a low carbon future. Landers & Associates were able to ensure that Camden achieved all its aims through well thought out and executed design solutions. Although some heritage features did not fit into the final scheme, careful consideration was given to how such features could be replicated such that the look and feel of this Victorian building was not compromised.
